ATTEMPT VS ACCURACY

Welcome back to another blog. In this post we will predominantly be discussing on one question that probably haunts all CLAT aspirants- How to maintain a balance between attempts and accuracy?

Good attempts are a result of good time management and good accuracy stems from abundant practice and some smart work while answering. However, what happens often is that while attempting mocks the balance between the two goes awry. I have also seen people complaining that their accuracy is excellent while practicing and suddenly dips during mocks. I myself had faced this problem in the initial phases of my preparation journey.

Let’s delve in the dos and don’ts of this attempt vs accuracy battle.

I will go about this in pointers.

1.    How to get a good accuracy?

·  Practice makes a Man/ Woman perfect- I cannot stress on the importance of practicing enough. Regular practice counts a lot. Even on days when you feel low and school exam days, just do a paragraph of practice.

·    Don’t be an egoist- Do not take things to your ego. It is okay to not get some questions. Just because you did a certain number of attempts in your last mock doesn’t mean you have to do the same in this mock as well or in your final paper as well. Your attempts would vary from paper to paper depending on difficulty level.

·      Choose questions wisely- It is okay not to attempt all the questions in the paper. Attempting less questions but answering them correctly is a better way to go about it. If you are very unsure, then DO NOT ATTEMPT.

2.    How to get good number of attempts?

·       GOOD TIME-MANAGEMENT= GOOD NUMBER OF ATTEMPTS.

·      Do not cheat yourself during practice or mocks by stopping the timer midway and taking mid-practice breaks. During the CLAT Paper you CANNOT stop the timer and it is fruitless to do so while practicing. Practice sitting for 2 hours at a stretch and continuously practicing. Reading fatigue is REAL. The best way to overcome it is continuous practice.

·   Mind the sectional timing: If you give extra time to any one section, the marks for the section does not increase. So, learn to LEAVE the remaining questions of the section if you have exhausted the set time allotted to that section.
